There’s no better way to build these relationships than to visit small, family-run farms and local co-operatives, shake hands with the farmer, learn their process and share a meal with their families. As sourcing quality coffee beans continues to get more challenging, we’re proud to work with and reward growers committed to Specialty Coffee — those who make quality their highest priority and insist on ethical and sustainable growing and processing practices. We do it because it’s better for the planet and simply tastes better in the cup. Win-win, as they say.

Meet some of our valued farming partners:

Sumatra IKA Farina (Since 2000)

Through the IKA exporters, we source coffee from Irham and Farina (“Ina”) Junus, a father daughter team who steward a uniquely prepared, forest-grown coffee from the remoteness of Northern Sumatra. From here, to their mill in Medan, and onto us. Traditional wet-hull milling (processing) leads to complex flavor nuances, demanding careful roasting and blending.

Tanzania Mondul Estate (Since 2005)

Cravens is proud to be the primary buyer and registered FDA agent for this Estate coffee. We purchased their first crop nearly 20 years ago after the rehabilitation of the farm. A unique Direct Trade coffee you can't get anywhere else.

Costa Rica Palmares Cooperative (Since 2007)

Our longest standing Farmer Relationship Coffee at 18 years and counting, Jose Angel and the Palmares Co-operative produce elegant and bright Costa Rican coffee.

Rich volcanic soil under a canopy of shade, these beans come from the fine growing region of Palmares in the West Valley. Warm air rising from the valley floor imparts a unique, crisp taste.

Colombia Caficauca Cooperative Mill (Since 2008)

From the Southern Cauca region at the meeting point of 3 ranges of the Colombian Andes, the people at Caficauca carefully coordinate and process coffee for Cravens.

Our Direct Relationship with the Caficauca Cooperative Mill in Popayon secures the sweetest, most buttery Colombian coffee from the Southern Cauca region.

Mexico CEPCO Cooperative (Since 1999)

We have been sourcing organic coffee from the CEPCO co-operative for over 20 years since visiting there in 2000. The coffee that flow through this co-op is grown sustainably at high elevations around Pluma Hidalgo in the Sierra Madre mountains.
